    Charles is an Account Manager at Bright Ideas, a relatively 'new' dad, a bit of a DIY expert and one of our resident foodies.

    What’s your favourite promotional product?

    It has to be water bottles – one of the most functional promotional items available. I just love the practicality of them and the variety of shapes and colours available is really mind boggling. Having one on my desk filled with refreshing water is a great reminder to stay hydrated throughout the day. The large branding area coupled with the ability to match bottles and lids to corporate colour schemes makes them perfectly suited to most brands.

    What's so special about Water Bottles?

    Everybody should have one. Practical, good looking and come with health benefits (subject to what you put in them)! They are also pretty durable. I've had mine for ages.

    Are there specific items you’d recommend?

    I just love the H2Go water filter bottle. I use mine every day, I may never have to buy bottled water again!

    Here are some of the key findings from a recent study conducted by the BPMA. The research included surveying close to 15,000 people who had received a promotional product within the previous year.

    • 87% kept a promotional item for longer than a year
    • 56% said their impression of the company improved after receiving the promotional item

    The research also highlighted that the ROI on promotional products was better than investment on other channels such as radio and outdoor advertising, and is equal to TV and print.

    The most popular promotional products in terms of favorites listed by those who were surveyed were:

    • Pens
    • Notebooks, and
    • Mugs

    Practicality and longevity are key

    When it comes to how long a promotional product is kept, there's a direct correlation between how genuinely useful the item is. The longer a promotional product is kept, the more impressions it makes on the recipient and anyone else that sees the recipient using the item. That's why mugs and USB's prove to be so popular. Indeed, it's not uncommon for these types of items to 'hang around' for years. From the survey, 87% said they kept a promotional item for longer than a year and nearly 30% kept a promotional product for up to 4 years. The impact of these products can, therefore, be great.

    What’s your favourite promotional product?

    Being a sucker for a good gadget I can’t deny the appeal of items in the Technology range. The power banks are great, especially ones with high capacity and the ability to charge a couple of different devices at the same time. I can’t count the number of times that I've run out of juice at a critical time so these things can be real life savers!

    It should also be said that I can’t have too many USB flash drives! My current favourite is a solidly built top of the line affair which sits happily on my key ring. It also has a really clear branding area which has been laser engraved and this really stands out.

    What's so special about Flash Drives and Power banks?

    I really like the fact that they are not only desirable and neatly designed but are items that serve a real purpose. Keeping your data stored safely or your device in working order is essential.

    Are there specific items you’d recommend?

    Well my current favourites are the Kingston DataTraveler 101 SE9-8GB and the Xoopar Squid Max 7500. Both of these are of high quality without being overpriced. And they should provide a great fit with the right brand.I keep my DataTraveler on my key ring so for me it’s a must.
